What it is
Echoes are bonus stat lines that roll on top of an item's base stats, up to five lines per item. They are steered with souls — Energetic, Turbulent, Ambitious and rarer kinds — and every line's maximum value is capped by the item's level.
Reading item strength

Notes
Potions cannot carry echoes, and each equipment category draws from its own echo pool. The wiki recommends keeping at least two echo lines on every piece of gear — Energetic Souls become extremely common at higher levels.
Player reports also describe echo rarity as colored bubbles on items, with tiers from normal to rare, unique, legendary and immortal.
